Kathmandu, Nepal – A massive flood struck the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa district at approximately 8:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Bhadra 10, 2083 (Nepali calendar), causing significant loss of life and property and impacting several riverbank communities.

According to government officials, the flood has affected coastal and riverside areas in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, and Gorkha districts. Search, rescue, and relief operations were launched immediately after the disaster, with security agencies and local authorities working to assist affected residents.

The government stated that assessments of both human and infrastructural losses are ongoing. Authorities emphasized the urgent need to relocate affected people to safe locations while also planning for their long-term rehabilitation and resettlement.

In response to the disaster, the government has appealed to individuals, organizations, and well-wishers to provide financial assistance through the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund and the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund, managed by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
