MANASSAS, VA., August 9, 2026 – The Nepali American Community Center (NACC) has been awarded $190,000 in federal funding through the FY 2025 Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), marking a major investment in the safety and security of the community facility.
The highly competitive grant program supports nonprofit organizations that face elevated security risks by helping them enhance physical security measures, improve emergency preparedness, and strengthen the resilience of their facilities. NACC’s successful application reflects the organization’s commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for the Nepali American community and the broader public it serves.

According to NACC, the $190,000 award will fund several key security upgrades at the community center, including the installation of high-security perimeter fencing, enhancements to building security systems, expanded surveillance and security camera coverage, and other protective measures designed to strengthen the facility’s overall security infrastructure.
Community leaders say the improvements will help ensure the safety of hundreds of individuals and families who participate in religious, cultural, educational, social, and community events hosted at the center throughout the year.
“NACC recognizes that a strong community center is built not only on cultural connection and community engagement, but also on providing a safe and secure environment for everyone who walks through its doors,” the organization said in a statement. “This funding will help strengthen our security capabilities while supporting our long-term commitment to community safety and preparedness.”
The grant award represents a significant milestone for NACC as it continues to expand its role as a hub for cultural preservation, community services, and civic engagement in the region.
NACC stated that additional details regarding project implementation, timelines, and specific security enhancements will be shared with community members as the grant-funded improvements move forward.
The FEMA Nonprofit Security Grant Program is a nationwide initiative designed to help nonprofit organizations enhance protection against potential threats and improve overall preparedness, ensuring that community institutions remain safe and resilient for years to come.
