The MIT Group Foundation, led by Dr. Shesh Ghale, has announced a landmark long-term commitment of up to NPR 578.5 million (NPR 57.85 crore) to support children under the age of 18 impacted by the catastrophic Bhotekoshi flood. The initiative was officially formalized in Kathmandu through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Dr. Shesh Ghale and Durga Prasad Chalise, Member Secretary of the National Child Rights Council (NCRC).

The funding is structured as a comprehensive, long-term support program rather than temporary relief.Under the agreement, eligible children who lost their parents or faced severe displacement due to the disaster will receive sustained assistance to help them complete their education through Grade 12. The program will prioritize raising affected children in safe family environments—such as with relatives—keeping institutional care strictly as a last resort.

Highlighting the vision behind the initiative, Dr. Shesh Ghale emphasized that the project aims to ensure early tragedy does not dictate a child’s future. The comprehensive aid package will cover essential expenses including education, food, accommodation, clothing, healthcare, nutrition, and psychosocial support.Through this collaboration with the government, the foundation seeks to provide the stability and resources these children need to rebuild their lives and look forward to tomorrow with hope.
