The Nepali diaspora in the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area experienced an unforgettable celebration of heritage and music on September 18 2026, as Kuma Sagar & The Khwopa Band took the stage for a spectacular concert. Managed by Saroj Shrestha under Dakwo Events and presented by the DMV Collective, the event served as a vibrant cultural bridge connecting the community to its roots back home.

The evening opened with a rich pre-show showcase highlighting traditional arts and cultural depth. Audiences were treated to dynamic Newa cultural dances, fusion performances, soul-stirring traditional sarangi melodies, a graceful Khadgayogini dance, a live Dhime dance, and an electrifying guitar solo by Srijan Bikram Gewali, former lead guitarist of renowned bands Cobweb and Monkey Temple. The cultural prologue also featured powerful spiritual and mythological enactments, including a Mahakaal dance symbolizing strength and protection by Yagya Man Shakya, and the iconic, community-protecting Lakhe dance.

Following these stellar presentations, Kuma Sagar & The Khwopa Band delivered a powerhouse musical performance that resonated deeply with the crowd. Bringing the community together in association with Project Urja, Muglan ko Batash, Mandala Entertainment, Pandey Homes, Basecamp Beats, Hour X Entertainment, and Namlo Events, the concert highlighted the incredible artistic talent thriving within the diaspora.

Organizers emphasized that an undertaking of this scale would not have been possible without the generous contributions and unwavering backing of an extensive network of sponsors and partners. Key supporters included platinum sponsors Ganesh Pandey (Pandey Homes) and Adhitya Ghimire (Ghimire Homes), alongside a robust lineup of gold, silver, and bronze sponsors, food and beverage partners, and non-profit collaborators like PKP Tender Hearts Foundation, Nritya Mandap Dance Academy, Newah organization of America(NOA), Nepa Pasa Pucha Amerikaye(NPPA), Nepa Community USA, Lyaymha America. Supported further by local businesses, travel, ticketing, and photography partners, the event stood as a true testament to the thriving unity and collaborative spirit of the Nepali community across the region.
