London, UK – In a historic achievement for Nepali endurance sports, Santosh Rai, coach of Nepal Run Globally, has become the first Nepali athlete to qualify for the IRONMAN World Championship 2026, set to take place in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

The IRONMAN World Championship is regarded as one of the world’s toughest endurance competitions, requiring athletes to complete a grueling 3.86-kilometer ocean swim, 180.25-kilometer bike ride, and 42.2-kilometer marathon run in a single event. Qualifying for the championship is considered a major accomplishment, achieved only by elite triathletes from around the globe.

Rai’s qualification marks a significant milestone for Nepal in the international triathlon community.
