Nepali-American community leader Satish Chapagain has won the Democratic Party primary election for Maryland House of Delegates District 7A, advancing to the general election scheduled for November. In the June 23 primary, Chapagain secured 2,718 votes out of 10,402 ballots cast, finishing second and earning the Democratic nomination for the seat.

A small business owner and interpreter for Baltimore County Public Schools, Chapagain currently serves as an elected Central Committee member of the Maryland Democratic Party. He has been actively involved in community and social organizations throughout Maryland and is widely recognized for his engagement in public service and community advocacy.

During his campaign, Chapagain focused on addressing the rising cost of living, improving public safety, and supporting local businesses. His primary election victory is being viewed as another milestone for the Nepali-American community, reflecting the growing participation and influence of Nepali immigrants in local politics across the United States.
