Search and rescue operations were launched after reports of the avalanche emerged on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"819\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/thechroniclesofnepal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/nirmal-2-819x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-386\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thechroniclesofnepal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/nirmal-2-819x1024.jpg 819w, https:\/\/thechroniclesofnepal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/nirmal-2-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/thechroniclesofnepal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/nirmal-2-768x960.jpg 768w, https:\/\/thechroniclesofnepal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/nirmal-2.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Officials confirmed that four bodies have been recovered from the mountain. Two of the victims have been identified as <strong>Nadhira Ahmed Abdullah Al Harthy of Oman<\/strong> and <strong>Pur Bahadur Gurung of Nepal<\/strong>, according to the Alpine Club of Pakistan. Authorities are still working to identify the remaining two recovered bodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The climbing team was made up of mountaineers from several countries, including an American, a Chinese national, a Pakistani, an Omani, and six Nepali climbers. Six members of the expedition remain unaccounted for, raising fears that the death toll could increase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Search and rescue efforts were suspended due to adverse weather conditions but are expected to resume as soon as conditions improve, said <strong>Faisal Ehsan Pirzada<\/strong>, Home Secretary of Gilgit-Baltistan. Officials continue to monitor the situation closely as rescue teams prepare to return to the mountain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The expedition was led by <strong>Nirmal Purja<\/strong>, one of the most accomplished mountaineers in the world. Purja gained international recognition in 2019 after completing the ascent of all 14 of the world\u2019s peaks above 8,000 meters in just over six months, a record-breaking achievement in high-altitude climbing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Broad Peak, located near the Pakistan-China border, is the world\u2019s 12th-highest mountain and is known for its challenging terrain and unpredictable weather.
