The semi-autonomous unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), manufactured by Swiss specialty developer Flyability, was officially handed over to representatives of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) by an arriving Swiss humanitarian assistance expert. The donated equipment is uniquely engineered for high-risk, confined environment operations where standard aerial drones cannot survive. Featuring a specialized protective cage, the collision-resistant drone is capable of safely navigating tight, dark, and highly obstructed subterranean spaces\u2014most notably flooded hydropower project tunnels filled with debris and mud. This design allows operators to push deep into hazardous areas that are currently far too unstable or tight for human search teams to enter safely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
